Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to stock up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places tidy. The reach truck comes in quite a few models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The simplest kind is the stand-up. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This particular model consists of telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not only slide under the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in multiple directions. This version is ideal in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
In the majority of warehouses, there are normally more than one kind of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and can increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
