Inventor Jerome Case founded the business of CASE within Racine, when he began the building of threshing machinery. Later the business gained recognition internationally as the first maker of steam engines for its agricultural use. In time, the business grew to become the world's biggest producers of steam engines.
Case had established themselves in the construction machine business by 1912. They became a manufacturer of road building equipment including steam rollers and road graders. Case grew their construction machine business through different acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation in 1957. Case had expanded their company by the mid-1990s to become the top producer of light-sized to medium-sized construction machinery.
During 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This business became responsible for advertising several of the leading brands of construction and agricultural machinery in the globe.
