How to Charge a Scissor Lift
Lots of people appreciate the convenience of utilizing a scissor lift. The ease of working and the safety offered from the lift's basket offer much more piece of mind than trying to perform a similar job using the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machine make it the right choice for carrying tasks from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted in the base of the lift. These batteries need to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This can be carried out without any specialized tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
In order to prepare the scissor lift for charging, park the machinery near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button located inside the basket of the lift, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Often, older units will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
Next, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in an area that is well ventilated and afterward plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger could potentially happen.
