Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm which is situated on a rotating turntable. Typically, telescoping boom lifts are used for jobs which require reaching at maximum height, exceeding other kinds of lifts. Like for example, workers can perform exterior renovations or repairs on medium sized buildings but using these lifts rather than having the additional work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The boom lift is only designed to hold one person. These buckets are more suitable to particular jobs like electrical repair, rather than general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are offered with both indoor and outdoor tires and come in electric and gas configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces below the work platform. These braces squeeze together to be able to push the platform straight up. Because these types of equipment must be directly positioned under the work site, these units are way more limited in their use as opposed to boom lifts.
Scissor lifts do, however, offer larger platforms that allow the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface when the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these types of equipment, because they have to sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are ideal for being utilized for cladding or window installation, because they provide the employees with the desired mobility; they are also a great option for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The boom truck or cherry picker refers to the utility vehicle often used to lift personnel for different tasks done at heights. Generally, these kinds of trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and operates the machinery. There is a bucket for where the worker could stand as well as a winch for carrying and an actuator arm for lifting the boom.
Boom trucks take employees to heights that would normally be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to raise heavy supplies or equipment from one location to another. There are various types of cranes that could perform various purposes. Both of these different kinds of machinery excel at various jobs and are suitable for specific applications and accomplishing certain jobs.
