The kind of vehicle usually found inside warehouses, factories and different work locations where moving heavy materials from one location to another is required is referred to as a forklift. The mast is the mechanism situated on the front of the forklift that hydraulically raises and lowers the load. The "cat" is the protected area where the operator of the forklift sits.
Forklifts could lift loads which weigh between one to five tons. Some kinds could be used to raise shipping containers and much heavier loads.
Forklift tires must be checked and maintained regularly. The kinds of tires on various forklifts differ based on factors such as ground surfaces, frequency of use and weight of the loads. Each and every operator of a forklift must have access to replacement tires, a forklift jack and tire press.
Tire Maintenance Instructions
You should regularly inspect the tires. Watch for signs of wear and damage to the tires. If the wear on the tire exceeds 40 percent, it needs to be replaced.
When you buy tires, be sure you buy the right kind - polyurethane, solid or pneumatic.
When the tire needs replacing, position the forklift jack under the tire and lift the forklift high enough that you could easily change the tires.
You could use the tire press to pull the tire from the rim and remove the damaged tire. Install the new tire and properly secure it. If you are changing more than one tire and you only have one jack, lower the forklift, then reposition the jack at the next tire.
On-site tire repair could be performed by a repair company. If the tire is too big for both in-house and mobile tire presses, the damaged tire must be transported to a shop which has a stationary tire press.
